Lunches

Last week I packed my first bento-style lunch for the kids, I can see how this could get addicting!  I finally got my hands on the Wilton “101 Cookie Cutters” set, so now I have lots of great shapes to choose from.

Little boy’s lunch – PB&J doggie & doggie toys, cheese bone, crackers, salad w/ raisins, grapes, blueberries and “little trees”.

Little girl’s lunch – heart bologna & cheese, heart cheese shapes, crackers, salad, heart strawberries and broccoli.

I didn’t see anything left in their lunches after school, so I think they liked it (but probably I did more).

Not muffin-tins, but had to share where I got my inspiration from!

Little swimmer

Little girl has been doing so well at her summer swim lessons, I’m so proud of her.  She is swimming with her head in the water and really enjoys her class.

Cow appreciation day

IMG_0075

Today was Cow Appreciation day at the kids favorite restaurant, Chick-fil-a.  We had fun making up our cow costumes so we could eat some yummy food for free.

Little girl helped me cut out shapes to tape to her costume (aka garbage bag).  Mommy printed out some cow masks from the website, and we made home-made “Eat Mor Chikin” signs.

We met our friends “The Little’s” at the restaurant and had a blast!  There was a clown painting faces…and of course, a very large, very friendly cow.  Little girl is not so fond of the cow, shall we say, but little boy gave him a high-five a couple times.

Rewards are rewarding

This weekend I had a talk with little girl.  We agreed that if she would practice self-control by not sucking her thumb, that we would pick a special reward that she could earn.  She would have to wear a band-aid on her thumb every day, and go three weeks without sucking her thumb to gain her reward.  She agreed.

So off to Target we went in search of her special reward.  She even got to pick out special band-aids to help her “remember”.

I am so proud of her, we are on day four and she is doing a great job!

Here is a picture of the reward chart we made – one sticker every day!

And here is a picture with her reward!  The large “Jessie” doll from Toy Story!

Random thoughts

It's Saturday morning...my favorite time of the week.  Little girl is watching "Handy Manny" and little boy is out with daddy on a trip to the men's toy store...aka Home Depot.

We had a very nice week, little girl was sick last weekend, so we just relaxed around the house.  On Wednesday we went to the movies with friends and played at our favorite indoor playground - McDonald's.  It has been SO HOT outside, it's practically impossible to do anything outside for longer than a few minutes.  The McDs down the street has a very large indoor play place that the kids love.

Friday was a fun adventure to our cousin's house for a pool party.  There were SO many kids!!  What a fun time, but our little boy was a little overwhelmed.  We've been dealing with a tantrum phase with him lately...we are just trying to wait it out with patience and understanding.  He easily becomes overwhelmed by his emotions, and soon we know he will be able to learn some self control.  It's taken us quite a bit of frustration to get to the point where we understand that he just needs us to understand!

This weekend is Father's day, and we are looking forward to spending some time with the men in our lives that are so special to us.

That's it for now...off to get ready for a fun family day!

Play time

My new schedule at work allows me to be off on Wednesdays and Fridays! It is fun to have more time at home with the kids.

The kids enjoyed playing in our new "sand box".

And afterwards we had Popsicles - because it is HOT outside!

Video for Grandma in OH

Here is a video we made for Grandma in Ohio :-)  You can hear little boy playing with his Diego Rescue Pack.  Next time I'll clean my house first ;-)
