Fall has arrived (Florida style)

It was a gorgeous day today, high of 76, woohoo!  I am loving the feeling of the cool air and nice breeze.  Inspired to be outdoors, I packed a picnic lunch and headed to the nearby lake to have a dinner picnic and play.

Bitter sweet

Last weekend little girl and I flew to Ohio to see our family.  My sister's fiancée and passed away suddenly.  It was such a sad time, there were some sweet moments.

Little girl just loved meeting and playing with her cousins.  We got to visit our "Grandma Cindy" and even got to see Great-Grandma.  

My heart still hurts for my sister's loss, and for the girls, who lost the only daddy they ever knew.

Homeschooling blog

I’ve been working on ramping up a new blog specifically for our homeschooling adventure :-) Hop on over and take a look!  I’ve learned so much, and been so inspired by the homeschooling blogs I’ve come across…I hope that sharing our experiences will help someone else along the way!

We are in our third week of school, and it is going very well.  Because I have still been working, it has been challenging and I’ve felt a little behind as we’ve been going along, but I hope soon to be able to get ahead in my planning so we can work in some FUN!!  You can only do so many worksheets (ug)!

Little girl had her big 5th birthday last week, so I will get a post together with pictures soon.  I’m so proud of our little princess.

Little boy has been doing so great during this transition time as well.  He goes to a great new daycare three days a week, and it has been so sweet to see him adapt.  He is growing up, that’s for sure.  A year ago this would have been a huge undertaking, but after only a couple days of crying for momma, he has done great in the mornings saying good-bye.  He has also been making HUGE progress in potty training (thanks to his new teacher). 

Yay :-) off to work for my last day – it is very bittersweet.  I love the company and the people I work for, they are like family.  It is hard to say good bye, but I know that it is what is best right now. 

The moral of this post: Change is hard, but good! :-)

Countdown to kindergarten!

With only 16 days left until school starts…I am thinking often about what our days are going to be like! 


I am very excited about the arrangement we have with our school.  They are our “umbrella” for keeping records, testing, etc.  They also have degreed teachers that provide lesson plans and teach the students from two days to five days a week.  We have chosen to do 3 days of home school and 2 days of on campus classes.  The school also offers a complete home school option, which we may want to do in the future.  Little girl has already met one of the girls in her class (her class has a total of 5 girls).


I’ve been getting lots of school supplies on sale here and there, ordered all our curriculum, and am anxiously awaiting the full day of training with the teacher that is coming up.


I found some great books on clearance yesterday when I was at the Christian bookstore…




It’s been fun starting my school library. I’ve also been on the look out for fun activities that we can work into our school days to make things a little more fun and interesting.
